Abstract

(from the introduction) examines a slightly different aspect of cognitive functioning in autism: executive functions executive functions are behaviors thought to be mediated by the frontal lobes: planning, impulse control, inhibition of prepotent but incorrect responses, set maintenance, organized search, and flexibility of thought and action outlines recent studies of executive function in autism integrates behavioral research with neurological theorizing, arguing that prefrontal dysfunction might be a viable candidate for explaining the underlying impairment
