Abstract

SUH (1990) presented a design framework that is known as axiomatic design (AD). The goal of AD was to establish a scientific basis for design and to improve design activities by providing the designer with a theoretical foundation based on logical thought processes (SUH 2001). Since 1990, many applications of AD have been reported in various fields of study (e.g. TATE 2000, EL-HAIK & TATE 2002). © 2009 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
