Abstract

Regularly, the small and medium companies does not have access to optimization software routing due to the fact that this is very expensive for them. These companies solve their routing problems some times by hand or using simple heuristics such as zoning or sweeping methods. This paper presents a framework for solving routing problems that runs on the web and it is easy to use. This application is named Routics. Solving a real routing problem Routics demonstrates that it has better efficiency than zoning or sweeping methods considering distance traveled, time traveled, number of routes, number or vehicles and their percent of utilization. By using Routics, the managers in logistics companies can determine a near-optimal route for their vehicles.
