Abstract

: Carassius auratus is one of the ornamental fish that is in great demand so that it becomes a benefit business opportunity in Indonesia. Carassius auratus cultivation through spawning and then it will produce fertile eggs. The hatchability of fish eggs is influenced by internal and external factors, and there are other factor such as the attack of fungus Saprolegnia sp. These fungi can be treated by using synthetic chemicals but it can cause enviromental pollution problems. Betel leaf ( Piper betle L.) can be an alternative in handling fungus. This study aims to determine the effect of boiled betel leaf on the hatchability of Carassius auratus eggs and the survival of Carassius auratus larvae. This type of experimental research used RAK with 5 levels of treatment doses (10 ml/L, 20 ml/L, 30 ml/L, 40 ml/L) and 6 replications. The research sample in the form of fertile Carassius auratus eggs was obtained from spawning results from Instalasi Perikanan Budidaya Punten Batu. The number of samples used were 30 eggs for each treatment. The results showed that the treatment of boiled betel leaf affected the hatchability of Carassius auratus eggs at 30 ml/L, then it was further known that the treatment of boiled betel leaf had an effect on the survival development of Carassius auratus larvae. The survival rate was highest at a dose of 20 ml/L.
