Abstract

Th is publication was motivated by the Annual conference of the German Com-munication Association, Public Relations/Organisational Communication divi-sion during November 2010 in Leipzig, Germany. Under the thematic guidance of " Organisational communication and communication management " a wide platform was established for discussion of all aspects of organisational commu-nication and a greater foundation was enabled for communication management within organisational studies. Th e presentations and discussions held during the conference demonstrated the advantages of this undertaking, encouraged us to publish selected contributions in extended versions, and to complement them with further international articles concerning this topic. Within German speak-ing science public relations and organisational communication are still named as corresponding research fi elds. Although both fi elds gave name to the research division mentioned above, their research topics almost exclusively focus on public relations.
