From passion to alertness: An investigation of the mechanisms through which passion drives alertness

Abstract

This study investigates the motivational and self-regulatory antecedents of alertness (Kirzner, 1979) -A crucial component in the entrepreneurship process. Using data from 203 entrepreneurs in multiple industries, the study finds that passion acts as an indirect antecedent of alertness, with its effects mediated by proaction, learning goal orientation, and creativity.
