Abstract

This project introduces a teaching concept using a design-based and product-oriented digital media environment for learning processes of vocational trainees in car mechatronics fitters. The project is discussed under the synonym kfz4me.de because the products (digital learning modules, screencasts) which are being developed within the VET setting at the workplace or at vocational school are being published directly on the YouTube channel www.kfz4me.de. This contribution drafts briefly the genesis of the idea for this specific didactical concept. Based on that draft, the central scientific question is about the intentions that are connected with the development of this concept. In the second chapter, the design-based concept is being developed into its four phases together with their respective educational, scientific and pedagogical legitimations. The term design-based concept indicates the significance of active content acquisition by learners within a creative didactical process. The third chapter broaches the sequence of actions and carves out practice-oriented elements exemplarily. The concept’s learning efficiency will be reflected critically within the fourth chapter, aiming at indicating potentially problematic areas.
