Abstract

The book “Stress Challenges and Immunity in Space” deals with stress and the immediate and long-term effects of space-related stressors on the human immune system. World’s leading scientists in this field expound the main challenges for explorers and their immune system during spaceflight based on their own research and a detailed overview of current knowledge. Findings from fundamental, experimental and human studies on ground and in space have enabled to define and to develop highly innovative monitoring technologies and adequate countermeasure options which already showed great benefits for people on Earth. This second edition gives an update on research and new findings from the last eight years, which are summarized in the following chapter.
