Abstract

With the recent advances in radio technology and MEMs, Wireless Sensor Network has got a wide gamut of applications. Many applications like monitoring, surveillance and tracking need location of the object to carry out specified task.In this paper, we propose a distributed approach for localization, namely, Multidimensional Scaling with refinement using trilateration (MDS-DRT). The algorithm has been analyzed for varying number of node densities, number of anchors, and radio ranges. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm performs better than the existing algorithms in terms of accuracy with reduced computational complexity. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
