Challenges, Security Mechanisms, and Research Areas in IoT and IioT

Abstract

In recent years IoT technology has become widely accepted in the industrial sector creating the fourth industrial revolution, Industry 4.0, and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). This wide adoption of IoT has transformed the industries to smarter, efficient, and profitable ones. However with this adoption industry has inherited the vulnerabilities, challenges, and other issues faced by IoT. This paper conveys the challenges and issues created in this transformation and provides various security mechanisms to address the issues faced by the IoT and IIoT domain. The final section opens up various research areas in security that are still to be addressed in these domains and are also discussed in this paper.
