Outlines novel offshore platform designs developed by four Norwegian designers/builders. Aker's D-6 pltaform features a twin hull structure, no vertical bracings and only two horizontal bracings. The Aker PS15 is a rectangular six column design with closed pontoon arrangement and tuned motion response. Aker also supply the tethered production platform, a floating tension leg structure of the semi submersible type. ACN have developed the ADAPT concept which has well heads located on the deck in dry condition and uses bending risers. Veritec is involved in design of Karin, a low cost deep water platform, and Malfrid, a concrete gravity deep water platform. The Condeep T300, developed by Norwegian Contractors, can carry relatively large operational topsides weight, articulated drilling and production towers. (C.J.U.)
