Basically, children need meaningful activities, children love to contribute to the adult activities, so that they are feeling useful and feel needed. It is an opportunity to stimulate and shape the character of independence into the child. Independence needs to be developed as early as possible because independence is one of the tasks of early childhood development. Independence can be stimulated by various methods, one of which is the Montessori method. Through the Montessori method, children are trained with Montessori props designed to stimulate the child's senses, cognition and independence. This study aims to determine the learning process by using Montessori method in forming independent characters in the early childhood at preschool Awliya Kids Center preschool. The Montessori method is a method that designed based on the children needs and interest. in this Montessori method, the child is released on the move, feel free and the learning activity is very child-centered. Teaches the values of independence to the children can be through daily practical activities so that children get the freedom to do things they need. This research uses qualitative descriptive method, with research focus of Montessori Method Implementation in Establishing Independent Character in Early Childhood at preschool Awliya Kids Center Cirebon Academic Year 2017/2018, while the primary data source is chairman of foundation, principal, teacher of class B, and Montessori teacher. Secondary data sources are references to both books and journals related to the Montessori method and child self-reliance. Data collection techniques used observation, interview and documentation techniques. And examination of data validity using triangulation. The results showed that the application of Montessori method in forming independent character in early childhood at Awliya Kids Center Cirebon has been done well from start of learning planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning. The environment is instrumental in shaping the child's independent character. Especially the Montessori environment that stimulates the child's independent character. The result of the Montessori method implementation in shaping the independent character of the child can be seen from the ability of the children to serve themselves.
