Abstract

The pattern of synthesis of about 750 individual polypeptides was followed throughout the cell cycle of E. coli B/r. Samples taken at different times in the cell cycle exhibited the same pattern of protein synthesis. No protein could be identified that was synthesized at different rates during different parts of the cell cycle.
