Abstract

As illustrated in the previous chapters, the clinical management of disorders of consciousness remains very difficult, but technological advances in neuroimaging, in EEG-based brain-computer interfaces, and in treatments are now offering new ways to improve the diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic management of these challenging conditions. In this chapter, we will discuss the recent international clinical research efforts in this challenging field, heralding a new era of consciousness science and coma management.
