Abstract

EMI is a potential cause of malfunctions and failures in all electronic technologies. A safety-related system must therefore take EMI into account in its risk assessment. This paper discusses some of the major issues associated with including EMI in an IEC 61508 functional safety risk assessment. © Springer-Verlag London Limited 2012.
