This article presents the results of a research carried on readers' education at Escola da Ponte, Portugal, with the aim of understanding the conception of literature that this school has and its resignification in everyday life with students. The methodological procedures involved the routine observation of Escola da Ponte for fifteen days and interviews with administrators, teachers and students. The results point out to several actions that are part of the education program of the school which assist students to have learning self-regulation, aligned with the Portugal National Reading Program, prompting them to make decisions regarding the choice of books. The various actions and reading projects developed demonstrate the importance of reading the literary text in the Pedagogical Project of the school, which favors the readers' education.
