Abstract

The paper discusses stochastic models of scalar and vector metocean fields based on time varying Empirical Orthogonal Functions in space, and autoregressive time series models for the coefficients in the expansions. The models are fitted to an extensive data set from the Barents Sea and verified by studying field extreme value properties. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2003.
