The aim of this work was to evaluate the electrochemical behaviour of TiNiNb, TiAlV and TiAlZr in 0,9% NaCl (isotonic sodium chloride solution) and SBF (simulated body fluid). The surface of TiNiNb, TiAlV and TiAlZr alloys was mechanically polished and investigated with electronic microscopy. The hydroxyapatite (HA) layer appears on the surface of the samples due to the precipitation process from SBF. Their biocompatibility was demonstrated and sustained with cell cultures and the ion released concentrations were evaluated by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry ICP-MS measurements [1]. © 2008 Springer-Verlag.
