Bacterium‐like organelles (BLOs), morphologically indistinguishable from those which occur in Glomus caledonius and Acaulospora laevis have been found in the spores of Glonius mosseae, Gigaspora margarita, Gigaspora heterogama and an unidentified white reticulate vesicular‐arbuscular mycorrhizal spore. Morphologically different BLOs were also found in Gigaspora margarita and the white reticulate spores. The significance of the organelles is discussed. Copyright © 1982, Wiley Blackwell.
