Abstract

Effective scheduling in the Grid consisting of heterogeneous and distributed resources is imperative in order to counter unacceptably large overheads of the Grid. We proposed the grid middleware (pyBubble) supporting the DAG based co-scheduling for improving the performance of the RPC mechanism. DAG based co-scheduling reduces redundant transmission of input and output data from execution of the sequence of related client requests, thereby decongesting the network. We demonstrate the efficiency of DAG based co-scheduled RPC in experiments compared with the overhead of the traditional RPC mechanism. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.
