Abstract

The purpose of this research study is to determine the relationship between emotional competence and cooperative learning of students from a public university in Lima (Peru), in the context of online education, during the first semester of 2022. A basic type study is developed with a correlational descriptive level and a non-experimental design. The population consists of 1150 university students enrolled in the education degree program. Simple random sampling is applied, resulting in a sample of 289 university students who are surveyed via virtual questionnaires. The results show low levels (42.2%) of emotional competence and deficient (40.2%) cooperative learning. In addition, self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills are directly and significantly correlated to cooperative learning. It is concluded that there is a direct and significant relationship between emotional competence and cooperative learning, with a high degree of correlation.
