Abstract

In this paper, using the integrated surface observations for 430 Chinese locations, equations for estimating heating degree-days and cooling degree-hours were developed. The distribution of heating degree-days and cooling degree-hours was clarified and contour maps of heating degree-days and cooling degree-hours were created. Based on these maps, a new climatic zoning was proposed for the thermal design of residences in China. © 2005, Architectural Institute of Japan. All rights reserved.
