Abstract

The chapter contains generalized results of long-term field investigations by author of almost all large wild populations of the sturgeon since 1982 as well as all published up today data on the subject. In this chapter data on (a) current and historical distributional range including maps of the range; (b) taxonomic status of the Siberian sturgeon and its species structure; (c) phylogenetic relations of the sturgeon; (d) diet composition; (e) growth of the sturgeon on different populations; and (f) spawning habitat, reproductive parameters, and peculiarities of gameto- and gonadogenesis were included.
