Abstract

In the genus Solanum L. (Solanaceae), subgenus Leptostemonum (Dunal) Bitter, section Giganteiformia (Bitter) Child has four representatives in the Flora of southern Africa region (South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho), namely S. giganleum Jacq., S. goetzei Dammer, S. tettense Klotzsch var. renschii (Vatke) A.E.Gonçalves and S. tettense Klotsch var. tettense. Descriptions, discussions, distribution maps and keys are presented, as well as an illustration of S. goetzei.
