Quality Education and Economic Development

Abstract

The only way to achieve economic growth, in the long run, is to improve the quality of schools. The most important step for improvement is to establish a clear development goal and indicator in terms of measured skills. Through universal achievement of basic skills, inclusive growth is made possible which, in turn, has enormous potential in addressing issues of poverty and inadequate healthcare and to promote the new technologies necessary to improve the sustainability of growth. There is no single policy that has brought about these gains. Instead, there are local approaches informed by regular monitoring of student performance.
