Abstract

You are working as a general physician in a small village in rural Nepal. You are struck by the large number of women and children who present with eye complaints. Six year old Amreet has come to see you today complaining of sore red eyes. You investigate his case, diagnosing trachomatous eye disease, prompting further management of the community. You must use public health, epidemiology and public relations knowledge to promote the cause of trachoma eradication. Finally, you consider the wider issue of neglected tropical diseases and their management.
