Abstract

Scapholunate instability secondary to scapholunate ligament insufficiency or tear, or lesions involving the dorsal capsular structures and ligaments, has become one of the main indications for wrist arthroscopy procedures. Arthroscopic assessment of the scapholunate stability has induced a revolution in the management of scapholunate ligament lesions and has allowed the description of crucial capsuloligamentous structures and better comprehension of the wrist anatomy and biomechanics. Several arthroscopic classifications of scapholunate tears have emerged and, along with minimally invasive techniques, the treatment of these lesions has undergone a transformation.
