Abstract

In this paper, we propose a simulation system for evaluating communication systems in disaster situations. In this simulation system, virtual disaster areas are constructed based on hazard maps which are provided for predicting damage of disaster. Virtual disaster areas enables us to conduct experiments for communication systems effectively since we cannot conduct experiments in real disaster situations. In our system, movement patterns of refugees are also provided. Experimental results show that we can clarify effectiveness of proposed communication protocol by our system. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2010.
