Abstract

This contribution attempts to critically compare the vision of online citizen participation to the developments that can be observed in the field thus far. The analysis then focuses on areas of improvement to help develop this area further. The main focus is on the evolution in the European Union, however, general conclusions may be drawn beyond that. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
