Abstract

The sustainable development of a country largely depends on its energy production and an efficient utilization of available natural resources. In this regard, the role of institutions is very much imperative to set the rules of the game. In this chapter, authors firstly discussed the nature of institutions and types of social institutions. Secondly, they discussed the theories related to the institutions. Thirdly, the concept of energy and environmental constraints are discussed. Lastly, environmental protection act and energy policy of Pakistan was discussed as a case study in this chapter.
