Abstract

Social Democracy in Bulgaria is a political movement with a turbulent and contradictory history marked by ruptures and alliances, confrontations and unions. In Bulgaria there are currently two parties who are members of the Socialist International: the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and the Party of the Bulgarian Social Democrats (PBSD), which merged in 2011 with two other small organizations into the United Social Democrats (USD). But there are also a few other parties that use the denominative ‘social democrat.'.
