Abstract

Precocious puberty is a disturbing condition that has to be promptly evaluated. The central type is gonadotropin dependent due to early activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. Peripheral or precocious pseudopuberty is due to increased sex steroid production from ovarian, adrenal and testicular tumors which is gonadotropin independent. Radiological assessment plays an important part and occupies a crucial position in the algorithm for the evaluation of precocious puberty.
