Abstract

In the health sector, by its nature, traditional disciplinary fields are overwhelmed and need an interdisciplinary approach, convening researchers from various areas of knowledge, in an exercise of harmonious construction of collective solutions. This work aims to build a proposed of vision future, for the field of Biomedical Engineering, in the region of Valle del Cauca, Colombia, which integrated with other disciplines health facilitates services specialized and excellence, for all population. To collect information, primary and secondary sources were used. As primary source, the information was obtained by observation in direct contact with specialists, managers, researchers and academics from universities, hospitals and clinics, regulatory authorities and industry. The information, from secondary sources, was obtained from databases and WHO-PAWHO documents, the Ministry of Health, universities and public and private entities related to the health sector. The main needs are identified and grouped into three groups related to: 1) the academy, 2) the clinical and 3) the industry. Finally, a strategy and tasks in order to satisfy the needs are proposed.
