Abstract

Forest risk management for minimizing climate and weather induced damage requires assessing the current damage and predicting the future risks as accurately as possible. The main causes of acute forest damage are strong winds, fires, insect attacks, pollution and flooding (FAO 1995), out of which our interest here lies in wind (Box III.4.22), fire and flooding effects. Gadow (2000) has made an excellent review on Evaluating risk in forest planning models. © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
