Abstract

A case study presents an approach to the design of serious games through intercultural collaboration between students of two different institutions of higher education. Dutch students provided input regarding instruction about literature, and Singapore students shared knowledge of game design. The group produced multiple chapters of a game to be used in classrooms for literature instruction. The game focuses on The Odyssey, which is an important source text for modern literature. Then primary school, secondary school, and teacher education students played the game; research data were obtained to determine the target group for whom the game is suitable.
