Abstract

The Kurosegawa Terrane consists of various types of rocks which rocks occur mostly in the central portion of the Chichibu Belt in the Outer Zone of Southwest Japan. A remarkable klippe composed of the Kurosegawa rocks is delineated in the Chichibu Belt in Shikoku, through K-Ar dating of weakly metamorphosed accretionary complex rocks. In addition to lithologic similarity with the pre-Jurassic rocks of the Inner Zone of southwest Japan, field relations in the study area suggest that the Kurosegawa Terrane forms a gigantic klippe-like tectonic outlier of the pre-Jurassic complexes. -from English summary
