Human beings are unaware of the irreversible trace we are making on the planet; we have forgotten the holistic conscience of being a part of the ecosystem we are destroying. This article will analyse the visual and conceptual strategies of Daan Roosegaarde as an example of the artist-scientist-humanist in the International Year of Light 2015. From his Social Design Lab, “techno-poetic” projects have been generated which use sustainable solar energy technologies and recode the objects of our social space from a global holistic perspective. This laboratory takes the goals of the Global Net Society Institute and builds a real creative ecosystem in accordance with the ecological concepts defended by Hans Haacke and Joseph Beuys in the 60s and 70s and following Bruno Latour’s idea of “gatherings” where people can discuss technology and environmental problems.
