Abstract

(NH4)6Mo7O24·4H 2O has been used as an efficient catalyst for an improved and rapid synthesis of 2,4,5-trisubstituted imidazoles by a three-component, one-pot condensation of benzil, aryl aldehydes and ammonium acetate in good yields under solvent-free conditions using microwave irradiation. The reactions in conventional heating conditions were compared with the microwave-assisted reactions. © Indian Academy of Sciences.
