Abstract

This paper mainly focuses on the various technological improvements that need to be made for the current-integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC)- based power plants in the near future through which efficiency of above 50% would be achievable. This paper also elaborates about the working and the parts of an IGCC-based power plant. A discussion on the premier technologies that make IGCC the foremost prominent and promising technology for power generation today and tomorrow has been done, such as the advanced turbine technology, hot-gas cleanup technology, and the efficiency enhancement of the process, while taking into account the various aspects of each of these. If all of these novel technologies are adopted, then not only this will make the process very efficient, but also will be a promising solution for the years to come.
