Abstract

Piezoelectric zinc oxide nanostructures have been recently used to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. Here we give reasons for previously reported experimental results and provide insight for the design of high-efficiency piezoelectric nanogenerators. Moreover, we investigate some of the most important 2-contacts piezoelectric nanowires by means of Finite Element Method (FEM) simulations. © 2010 Springer Science+Business Media B.V.
