Abstract

Report on recent development in production and applications of epoxies with particular attention to progress achieved in the fields of surface coatings and structural or reinforced plastics. Epoxy capacities are tabulated with total of 273 millions of lb by end of 1970. An area of commercial acceptance was the introduction of precatalyzed liquid epoxy resins to prepare highermolecular-weight solid resins and epoxy resins esters. This technique is a refinement of the fusion process for manufacturing solid-grade resins from liquid resins and bisphenol A. Applicational survey includes-fluidized bed coating, reinforced pipes for chemicals, reinforced molding compounds for high performance uses, electronic encapsulation, etc.
