Abstract

Over the last decade, many methodologies for developing agent based systems have been developed, however no complete evaluation frameworks have been provided. Agent Oriented Software Engineering (AOSE) methodologies enhance the ability of software engineering to develop complex applications such as games; whilst it can be difficult for researchers to select an AOSE methodology suitable for a specific application. In this paper a new framework for evaluating different types of AOSE, such as qualitative and quantitative evaluations will be introduced. The framework assists researchers to select a preferable AOSE which could be used in a game development methodology. Furthermore the results from this evaluation framework can be used to determine the existing gaps in each methodology. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2013.
