Abstract

The evaluation and immediate management of the most common reasons for psychiatric consultation are discussed. They are: Depression, suicidal ideation/attempt, altered states of consciousness, anxiety and agitation, psychotic symptoms, suspected psychogenic symptom, addiction and pain problems, and patient behavior generating srong feelings in staff.
