Sugar industry is the second largest agro-based industry in India, which contribute substantially to the economic development of the country. Distillery effluent release 80 million kg of nitrogen and 520 million kg of potassium annually. A field experiment was conducted at Research and Development Farm, M/s Sakthi Sugars Ltd., Sakthi Nagar, Erode district, with different doses of distillery spentwash (DSW) along with inorganic N and P fertilizer without K using Sesame variety VRI (SV) 2 as test crop. Crop residue (6561 kg ha−1) were recorded higher in treatment that received 100 % N through DSW and Seed yield (720 kg ha−1), oil content (51.10) were recorded higher in treatment that received 75 % N through DSW and 25 % N through inorganic source. Based on the field experiments on sesame, it is concluded that the 75 % N through DSW and 25 % N through inorganic source based on crop requirement proved to be beneficial in increasing the crop yield and Quality parameter of the sesame crop.
