Abstract

Based on the modulation of neuroendocrine system and the hypothalamo-pituitary-adrenal axis model, we present a novel intelligent controller (NEIC). The NEIC, with a typical two-level structure, is composed of a primary control unit and a secondary one. According to the real-time control error, the primary control unit can adjust the control parameters of the secondary unit dynamically based on the hormone-release law. The NEIC can strengthen or weaken control action during the different control error range. The simulation results demonstrate that the NEIC's control stability and adaptability are better than those of the conventional PID controller. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.
