Abstract

Domestic and caregiving employment has become one of the main migrant female employment niches in Spain. The investigations carried out highlight the notorious material precariousness to which these workers would be exposed. However, the scientific production around the other forms of violence that would through the relationships in this work niche is much scarcer. Through a qualitative study that collects the professional experience of migrant domestic workers, have been explored multiple experiences of violence. These experiences show the persistence of a deeply asymmetric relational model, crossed by various axes of inequality and power. An irregular administrative status, together with precarious settlement conditions, have been those contingencies in which the exposure to violence among the women interviewed has manifested itself most emphatically.
