Abstract

Ependymomas arise from the ventricular surface, which is made up of ependymal cells. They occur throughout the whole central nervous system, including the filum terminale. They may occur outside the ventricular structures, representing the rare ectopic ependymoma. © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
