Abstract

Since the dawn of agriculture, the world’s soils are estimated to have lost billions of metric tons of carbon to the atmosphere. Researchers are now looking at ways to recarbonize the global soil pool using methods such as cover cropping, no-till farming, and enriching the soil with biochar. One of their chief goals: mitigating climate change.
