In Ubiquitous Computing, users interact with multiple small networked computing devices on a daily basis, accessing services present within their physical environment. In particular, the need to discover and correctly access those services as users move from one location to another and the conditions of the environment change, is a crucial requirement in the design and implementation of such systems. This work addresses the discovery and adaptation of services with potentially mismatching interfaces in ubiquitous computing environments, where applications are directly subject to the availability of services which may be discovered or depart from the system's environment at any given moment. In particular, we discuss the design of a framework to enable scalable adaptation capabilities. © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
