In this paper we have proposed a new method for cutting deformable (soft) objects. Deformation is modeled using the meshfree method of Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH). We label all particles during the virtual cut operation to obtain a particle code for every particle. Particles separated by the cut should not influence each other, we impose this condition by updating the neighbourhood using particle codes before SPH dynamics are computed. Particle codes eliminate the need for an external grid like structure for detecting newly generated cut surfaces. Region information extracted from the particle codes is used to obtain a modified color field for surface generation. We show that our algorithm can easily be integrated with existing SPH techniques and keeps the high level of parallelization in existing meshfree techniques. Our proposed method also has minimum overhead in scenarios where multiple cutting operations are performed on a deformable object.
